Answering Rules

RingCentral gives you total control of your phone system. Through answering rules that are very easy to set up, you can create a unique phone system with settings that exactly fit your needs, schedule and preferences. You can route callers based on different factors, giving you a more flexible and fine tuned system of answering your calls.

  • Different destinations. You can direct calls to different numbers or voicemail boxes, according to your preferences and settings. You can choose to ring different numbers in succession or simultaneously.
  • Call routing based on date and time. You can route customer calls to a specific number based on your business hours. For instance, you can choose to direct calls to your home phone number after office hours and on weekends.
  • Call routing based on caller ID. Important clients can reach you straight to your cell phone, no matter what time of day it is. Based on your set answering rules, your RingCentral number can identify callers based on their numbers.
  • Call routing based on the number called. You can set different rules for different numbers. This is highly helpful if you have remote offices in areas with different time zones. After business hours, calls to certain extensions can be automatically forwarded to voicemail and checked the next day.
  • Call routing with custom greetings. Your answering rules are not limited to scheduling your call forwarding. It also enables you to use different custom greetings for different times of day or days of the week.
